JIGS AND FIXTURES: MATERIAL SELECTION AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING CONSIDERATIONS

WEBINAR ON DEMAND

Jigs and fixtures continue to be a vital part of industry and manufacturing. Utilizing additive manufacturing for the creation of jigs and fixtures opens opportunities for cost saving and improvement in quality and speed. A large contributor to be able to create novel jigs and fixtures is the availability of unique and novel materials. This webinar will focus on some of these new materials and their relevance to jig and fixture creation.

We will focus on three newer materials and associated applications:  a Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) that has antistatic additives with examples of sensitive assembly line use; a Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) filament that is combined with carbon fiber for use in a large-scale PCB board process; lastly, we will cover 9085 Polyetherimide (PEI) filament with a carbon fiber filler that can used as an alignment tool for ISO specific applications.

Each of these unique materials and their related applications will be covered in this presentation. There will be a comparison of more widely available materials and the advantages of these. We will also cover the origination of need for each material, followed by the material selection and the slicing considerations. Then we will analyze the specific material properties, the unique printer settings required, and the finalized prototype.
