3D PRINTING MOLDS FOR SILICONE CASTING

WEBINAR ON DEMAND

Silicone is a widely used material across many industries. Its electrical resistance and tear resistance make it an excellent material for lower temperature applications requiring flexibility, durability, and electrical resistance. In addition, silicone is mostly non-reactive with most other materials. For these reasons, it is used widely within the medical, culinary, electronics, entertainment, and other large industries.

While silicone is a great material to have in your tool belt, it can be hard to process and create consistent high-quality parts. Often requiring molds to be created, using traditional machining, can result in longer lead times and expensive molds and longer mold trial and development cycles. Using 3D printing can significantly decrease the production time for the mold. Printing can also be brought in house to significantly reduce development cycles, leading to a faster time to part. No matter if you plan on using 3D printing to develop and test a mold or use the 3D printed mold for production, 3D printing molds for silicone casting can significantly reduce cost and overall time to part.

In this webinar, we explore the process for creating molds for casting relevant industrial silicone parts. We begin by walking through the design process, printing process, material selection, post processing, and finally silicone casting within the printed mold. We then explore the cost and time savings relevant to the casted part. By the end of this webinar, you will have all the tools to design, print, and cast parts relevant to your application and industry.
